I SAT ON THE SHORE AND WATCHED A SHIP
AS IT SAILED ACROSS THE SEA,
I WAVED GOOD-BYE AS IT FADED FROM SIGHT
AS IT SAILED AWAY FROM ME.
BUT I KNEW AS I WAVED AND IT WENT ON ITS WAY
CUTTING ACROSS THE FOAM,
THERE WERE THOSE WHO WERE GATH'RING
ON THE OPPOSITE SHORE
TO RAISE THE CRY, "WELCOME HOME!"
WHEN GOD SAYS THAT MY WORK IS DONE
AND MY LIFE SLIPS FROM YOUR SIGHT,
REMEMBER THE LOVE AND JOY THAT WE'VE KNOWN
REMEMBER THE DAYS THAT WERE BRIGHT.
AND KNOW AS WE BID OUR FOND FAREWELL
AND MY SOUL SETS OUT TO ROAM,
THAT ANGELS ARE GATH'RING ON THE OPPOSITE SHORE
TO RAISE THE CRY," WELCOME HOME."
THIS POEM WAS SENT TO ME IN MY TIME OF SORROW FROM DELL COLE BRENNER.

THE PRINCESS --TO JUNE
The Princess walked the path, For short hours with all;
And never, never brought out wrath, or hoped for human fall.
She smiled and won the hearts, and spoke and calmed the day;
Such a joy her kind imparts, she'll never go away.
We, of Glen Alum, knew her near and far, as the shining golden ray,
From our bright guiding star, her deeds, her ways, her smile will stay.
Despair not, oh, friends of hers! This day she has won new glory.
Within many a heart there stirs, glowing words of her story.
The image shall remain, memories shall increase,
Those who knew her shall keep thoughts of her in rest and peace,
Until they to her shall creep.
Signed,
A VERY DEAR FRIEND,
Emerson Boyd
